They didnt seem to have any trouble distributing food and water from the footage I saw. These arent animals down there waiting to attack. These are people who are lost, homeless, scared, sick, dying and they want help from any quarter. The ones who are shooting and hindering the efforts are according to the mayor..drug addicts and gang members. He said these are desperate people that are going thru drug withdrawls. They are out to get anything they can get. Now..yes they were being shot at then but did anyone notice how when "Ragin Cajun Honore" came into town that all stopped and the people got help. He was taking babies off the streets and sending them on buses as fast as he could grab then..HE did it personally..chewing on his cigar and letting everyone know he was in control. Now he met with no problems! I think they needed to see military presence and to know that law was being restored and people were getting help. Dropping food down to a crowd wasnt how i meant it..I meant dropping it down to the forces already on the ground for distribution..just like they did..only a few days too late for some..

My gripe was with our president who didnt move as fast as he should have to get this going. Im sure it wasnt all his fault..but know what..He is the man that we all look to and its his responsibility to see that the people he brings in to work for him..does their job if they dont..we blame his ass..

What amazes me is that bastard can send billions of U.S dollars to every country in the world in a split second but he WON'T get off his lily white ass to help his own country. And the other thing is that when it comes down to it the people we help usually turn around and bomb the bloody hell out of us, hate us, and refuse to help us when disaster strikes us. We are the ones paying for his war and his mistakes. We foot his bills and we pay for his lifestyle. And the more he thumbs his nose at the American public the more you want to see him taken out of the presidency by an impeachment hearing for failure to BE a president to the United States people. He isn't acting in our best interests. Not when he is letting thousands starve to death. And not all that far away from his hometown. How much is enough?

I am angry too.....at what or who I am not sure
right now.......the mayor who refused help from
FEMA before the hurricane, the president who
was on vacation and took his damn sweet time
getting to this, the blacks complaining it is
because of everyone against them, FEMA who is
supposed to be part of our home security and dont
know how to handle a disaster of this magnitude..
and I agree this is a disaster greater than
anyone ever imagined...but I thought homeland
security was set up just for this kind of thing??
who are you to be mad at?

the mayor was offered help before the hurricane
hit and she refused it....emergency workers could
have been staged and ready for this....Dyls
cousin was deployed on SUnday......and sent
somewhere else because their help was refused at
first.....it takes time to get these things set
up........it cannot be done instantly...being
a former firefighter, I understand the time and
red tape it takes to deal with something like this..
and I agree...it took a few days too long to get
this started.....but if the mayor would have let
them set up before hand...it wouldnt have taken
quite as long.....

I wont even comment on what I think of the president
right now.......

the blacks saying the help didnt come because
they are black and poor....from what I am seeing
on tv....there are many other nationalities
involved in this too...its not just a "black"
thing......dont get me wrong.......i am not
predjudice in any way......but for Gods sake...
look at the whole picture.....and stop thinking
you are the only fukin people involved...

FEMA.....well.......that is a story in itself...
we deal with them here in pa....and let me tell
you...they are some of the slowest fukin people in
the government......they like to act like they
have a clue but they dont.....hell the last flood
we had...they set up camp in a flood zone!

I hope that no one thinks I am saying anything
against what is posted here...I have been avoiding
this thread because my emotions are so mixed right
now...so please dont be offended...just trying
to find out where I stand in my thoughts of
all of this.....
and I think one thing is sure...we are NOT
prepared for disasters of great magnitude and
the government needs to be looking at this for
future training! but as long as georgie boy is
in control...the training will be avoided...just
like many other things since 9/11...

I feel for everyone who is involved in this in
one way or another....and they all have my prayers.......

BMR the world has NOT refused to help....days ago a reuters report stated that many countries had straight away offered aid in various forms but that GWB had said he didn't need it, that the states would be fine on their own

there are people out there with direct, relevant, appropriate experience in helping out after this sort of devastation...after all thousands of them from all countries helped all around asia after the tsunami...and yet he refused their offers of help? Pretty sure he's caved in by now, but the damage has been done

way to go GWB - i wonder, what can be done in a nation so disillusioned with its leader? can he be removed for such blatant disregard for the people of the country he presides over?

Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu on Saturday rebuked Mr. Bush. She said: "Perhaps the greatest disappointment stands at the breached 17th Street levee. Touring this critical site yesterday with the president, I saw what I believed to be a real and significant effort to get a handle on a major cause of this catastrophe.
"Flying over this critical spot again this morning, less than 24 hours later, it became apparent that yesterday we witnessed a hastily prepared stage set for a presidential photo opportunity.
"The desperately needed resources we saw were this morning reduced to a single, lonely piece of equipment.
"The good and decent people of southeast Louisiana and the Gulf coast .... deserve far better from their national government."
